Dr. Cirone and I had a wonderful holiday with our four daughters, spouses and “almost two” year old granddaughter. During our time together, we spoke about our future and the desire to continue to strive to keep our precious family close, loving, respectful and thriving. With that, we also welcomed our second granddaughter on December 31, 2016. Our little cherub, Nicko Marie was born to our first daughter, Denise and her spouse, Adam. She has the biggest, squishiest cheeks ever!
They had planned to have a natural birth at a birthing center but Nicko Marie had flipped around the last few days of pregnancy. She was breach and came into the world weighing 9lbs. 4 oz. Mother nature and logical thinking to have a C-section was the best decision for our daughter to make. Still adhering to their birth plan, as little as possible was changed to allow for their wishes for as natural a beginning to babies life.
When choices are placed before you, when those choices are not exactly how you expected them to be, your knowledge of your options leads you to make the best choice for each situation. That is when love and acceptance for yourself and your new journey will carry you through to accomplishing what you set out to do, no matter how many curves in the path you need to take to get there.
Momma and Baby Nicko are home and doing great! So many wonderful new expectations, choices and journeys ahead to accept and love. As always, I am, loving being a Crunchy Nonna. I will be here to offer help and share my baby knowledge with my daughter, Denise as she breastfeeds Nicko and makes the journey into motherhood as smoothly as possible.
